Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Vic ARMSTRONG (1946-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Vic Armstrong, film director and stunt coordinator, was surprised by Michael Aspel at Pinewood Studios, having flown in from Los Angeles for what he believed was a meeting about the next James Bond film.
Vic left school at 14 with an ambition to be a jockey after spending his formative years working with his father, a racehorse trainer. Having grown too big to achieve his dream, Vic continued working with his father until an opportunity to handle the horses for the 1965 film Arabesque led to a career in the film industry.
As a stunt coordinator and second unit director, Vic performed thousands of stunts in numerous movies, including the James Bond film series, Superman, Return of the Jedi, the Indiana Jones series and Gangs of New York. He received a lifetime achievement award from BAFTA in 2002, and according to The Guinness Book of World Records, he is the world's most prolific stuntman.
