Anthony ANDREWS (1948-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Anthony Andrews, actor, was surprised by Michael Aspel during the curtain call of the musical My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London.
Anthony, who was born in London, began his career as an assistant stage manager with Chichester Festival Theatre. He made his West End debut in the play Forty Years On in 1970, playing the part of a schoolboy. A supporting role in the BBC police drama Dixon of Dock Green led to other television work, including The Pallisters and Upstairs Downstairs.
In 1979, he was cast in the leading role in the ITV wartime drama series Danger UXB. He followed this with the part of Sebastian Flyte in the prestigious ITV drama series Brideshead Revisited in 1981, a role which made him a household name and earned him a Golden Globe award, a BAFTA award and an Emmy Award nomination for best television actor.
