Big Red Book
Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Series 31 of This Is Your Life launched with a gala evening to celebrate the '501st edition' produced by Thames Television. The programme is recorded at the Old Brewery in the City of London, where the subject - a film producer - is plucked by Michael Aspel from an audience of past subjects from the last 21 years.
For the first time in the history of This Is Your Life, one particular subject - an award-winning actor - has two significant others seated on either side of him, as his two ex-wives form part of the guest list.
As part of a series of programmes marking the closure of its Lime Grove Studios, the BBC broadcast a half-hour compilation of early BBC editions of This Is Your Life – although none were ever broadcast from those studios!
And tributes to the programme's previous host Eamonn Andrews continue to be published as his widow Grainne released For Ever and Ever, Eamonn - his unfinished memoirs, which she completed after his untimely death.
