Susannah YORK (1939-2011)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE – Susannah York, actress, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews while posing for publicity photographs for the ITV drama series We'll Meet Again at Duxford Airfield.
Susannah trained at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1958 and winning the Ronson Award for most promising student. Her early professional career was spent performing in classical repertory theatre and pantomime.
She made her film debut in Tunes of Glory in 1960, and went on to appear in the Academy Award winning Tom Jones in 1963. Other notable films include The Killing of Sister George and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? for which she received an Academy Award nomination. Alongside her film work, she maintained a successful career in theatre, and regularly appeared on television, notably in the ITV wartime drama series We'll Meet Again.
