Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Eamonn Andrews' long held ambition to take This Is Your Life to America to honour the stars of Hollywood's 'Golden Age' was achieved in December 1984; although the programme had by that time already paid tribute to several names associated with the movie capital.
The production team continued the trend of visiting Hollywood after Michael Aspel became host, often recording several editions in one trip.
So, here we shine the spotlight on those movie stars who have received the Big Red Book* treatment...

Bob HOPE 18 and 25 November 1970 The British-born comedian - who began his career in vaudeville, before finding fame through his film appearances - was surprised by Eamonn in the foyer of Thames Television's Euston Road Studios. Bob's story - told over two editions - includes tributes from singers Tony Bennett and Bing Crosby, and statesmen President Richard Nixon and Lord Mountbatten. |

Patricia NEAL 13 December 1978 Eamonn surprised the award winning actress during a cocktail party on London's Park Lane, aided by her husband, the writer Roald Dahl. Patricia, who is greeted on film by Hollywood stars John Wayne and Kirk Douglas, had suffered a stroke at the height of her fame, but with hard work and determination had recovered well enough to begin acting again. |
