Hayley MILLS (1946-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Hayley Mills, actress, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews in the projection room of a private cinema in central London.
Hayley, who was born in London and is the daughter of actor John Mills and writer Mary Hayley Bell, began her acting career as a child, winning the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer for her film debut in Tiger Bay in 1959. During her early career, she appeared in six films for Walt Disney, including her dual role as twins in The Parent Trap.
In 1961, she was voted the biggest star in Britain, while her performance in Whistle Down the Wind in the same year won her a BAFTA nomination for Best British Actress. In the late 1960s, Hayley began performing on stage, making her West End debut in a revival of Peter Pan.
