Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Jean ANDERSON (1907-2001)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Jean Anderson, actress, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews while celebrating her 76th birthday with a gathering of friends at London's Howard Hotel.
Jean trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and after a stint in repertory theatre at Cambridge, she joined the Gate Theatre Company in Dublin as their leading lady. In the 1940s, she worked at Londons Players Theatre Club, performing nostalgic Victorian music hall material.
Throughout the 1950s and 1960s Jean was a successful and prolific character actress appearing in countless parts on stage, screen and television. Her film appearances include A Town Like Alice and Half a Sixpence, and on television her roles in such popular BBC drama series as The Brothers and Tenko made her a household name.
