Dick FRANCIS 18 December 1974 The former steeplechase jockey, who became a writer and turned his knowledge of the horse racing world into a series of best-selling crime novels, was surprised by Eamonn while signing copies of his new book Knock Down in central London for a tribute which included jockey Gordon Richards and novelist Kingsley Amis among the guests. |

Jonjo O'NEILL 25 March 1981 Eamonn surprised the Irish National Hunt jockey - who in 1978 broke the record for most winners in a season with a tally of 149 - outside Thames Television's Euston Road Studios - with the help of broadcasters Dickie Davies and Peter O'Sullivan. |

Bob CHAMPION 13 October 1981 The jump jockey, who won his own battle against cancer to go on to win the 1981 Grand National on the horse Aldaniti, was surprised by Eamonn as he emerged from St James' Church in Chipping Campden - on his wedding day! The tribute was recorded in the wedding marquee and includes tributes from fellow jockeys Fred Winter and John Francome. |

Eddie MACKEN 7 March 1984 The Irish equestrian show jumper - who as a member of the Irish team won the Aga Khan Cup three years in a row - was surprised by Eamonn at the Park Farm Riding School in Middlesex. |

Jenny PITMAN 28 March 1984 The race horse trainer who became the first woman to train a Grand National winner - when Corbiere won the race in 1983 - was surprised by Eamonn at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. |

Peter SCUDAMORE 14 February 1990 Michael surprised the National Hunt jockey in the changing rooms of the Newbury Racecourse. Peter broke many jumps racing records including surpassing Jonjo O'Neill's most winners in a season with a tally of 221 in 1988/9. |

Virginia ELLIOT 6 July 1994 Michael surprised the equestrian competitor at her stables in Avon. Virginia achieved many notable successes in the 1980s, including winning the Individual European Eventing title on 3 consecutive occasions, 1985, 1987 and 1989 - a feat which has never been equalled. Among those paying tribute are Lucinda Green, Captain Mark Phillips and Ian Botham. |
