Barbara MULLEN (1914-1979)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Barbara Mullen, actress, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews outside the BBC Television Theatre, while filming for the BBC television series, Dr Finlay's Casebook.
Barbara was born in Boston, USA to Irish parents. She made her stage debut as a dancer at the age of three, and having danced in various theatres all over America she moved to London in 1934 to train at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
Barbara became an overnight star at the age of 25 in the title role of a West End comedy, Jeannie, and later repeated the role on television and in the film version, made in 1941. She is best remembered for her role as the housekeeper, Janet, in Dr Finlay's Casebook.
