Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Dick HOSKIN
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Dick Hoskin, charity organiser, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews in the audience at the BBC Television Theatre.
Dick, born and raised in Lancaster, broke his back in an accident in 1936 while working as a fireman. Despite his injuries he served in the army during the Second World War and took part in concert parties.
His enthusiasm for performing led him to become involved in amateur dramatics after the war, back in his home town of Colne, staging pantomimes which, at the time of his This Is Your Life tribute, had raised more than £50,000 for charity.
