Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Frank WINDSOR (1928-2020)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Frank Windsor, actor, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews during a cricket luncheon, where he was a guest of honour, at the Metropolitan Police Sports Club in East Molesey, from where the programme was then recorded.
Frank trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London after completing his National Service with the RAF in 1948. After appearing with the Elizabethan Players, a touring company performing classical theatre throughout the UK and India, he joined the Oxford Playhouse.
He first appeared on television in 1955 and would get his big break in 1962 when he was cast as Detective Sergeant John Watt in the ground-breaking BBC television police drama series Z-Cars, going on to appear in the programme's spin-offs Softly, Softly and Softly, Softly: Taskforce. His film appearances include This Sporting Life, Sunday Bloody Sunday and Spring and Port Wine.
