Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Joe BROWN (1941-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Joe Brown, singer and musician, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews while rehearsing for the pantomime Dick Whittington at the Odeon Theatre in Golder's Green, London.
Joe, who was born in Lincolnshire but grew up in London, formed his first band, a skiffle group known as The Spacemen, in 1956. In the late 1950s, he played lead guitar for several US artists on their UK tours. However, by the early 1960s, he had become a recording artist in his own right, having signed with Decca Records.
He released several singles, including A Picture Of You, which reached number two in the charts and toured with a collection of session musicians who became known as the Bruvvers. He also appeared in films, pantomime and stage musicals, including the West End production of Charlie Girl between 1965 and 1968.
