Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Julia MCKENZIE (1941-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Julia McKenzie, actress and singer, was surprised by Eamonn Andrews outside the Royalty Theatre in London after her car was 'forced' to stop on its way to the Waldorf Hotel.
Julia, who was born in Enfield, trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and began her career in West End musicals such as Maggie May, Mame and Company. In 1976, she appeared in the West End revue Side by Side by Sondheim, and made her Broadway debut when the show transferred to New York a year later, receiving a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.
She made her dramatic acting debut in Alan Ayckbourn's play Ten Times Table in 1979 and at the same time became a familiar face on television in the ITV sitcoms Maggie and Her and That Beryl Marston...!
