Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Julian FELLOWES (1949-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Julian Fellowes, actor and screenwriter, was surprised by Michael Aspel while filming on location at Ardverikie House in Kinloch Laggan for the BBC drama series Monarch of the Glen.
Julian, who was born in Cairo, where his father was working for the Foreign Office, was educated in England at Ampleforth College and Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he first began performing as a member of the Footlights. He later studied at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London before moving to Los Angeles in 1981, where he appeared in several minor roles on television.
After returning to the UK, he appeared in various theatre productions and on television, notably in the drama series Knights of God, Martin Chuzzlewit and Our Friends in the North. Then, in a slight change of career, Julian wrote his first screenplay for the Robert Altman film Gosford Park, which won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2002.
