Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Roger KENDALL
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Roger Kendall, firefighter, was surprised by Michael Aspel while training cast members of the ITV drama series London's Burning at Soho Fire Station in London.
After leaving school, Roger took up an apprenticeship with London Electricity Board but later became a firefighter, joining the London Fire Brigade in 1978 aged 20. In 1986 he was promoted to leading firefighter and transferred from Westminster to Paddington before being assigned to Red Watch at Soho Fire Station.
Roger attended some of London's most dangerous missions, including the 1987 Kings Cross fire, the car bomb explosion outside Harrods and the sinking of the Marchioness in 1989. In 1998 he was seconded to London Weekend Television as the Technical Advisor and Safety Officer to the ITV series London's Burning.
