Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Rudolph WALKER (1939-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Rudolph Walker, actor, was surprised by Michael Aspel - with the help of actor Frazer Hines - on his 60th birthday at Lord's cricket ground in London, having been led to believe he was there for an interview.
Rudolph, who was born in Trinidad, had his first taste of acting with an amateur theatre group while working as a printer. He moved to England in 1960 with plans to become an actor, and after taking drama classes at the London City Institute, he made his first professional stage appearance in 1964 in the play The Cave Dwellers.
Following further theatre work and several television appearances, he became one of the first black actors to be seen regularly on television when he was cast in the groundbreaking ITV sitcom Love Thy Neighbour, which ran for eight series between 1972 and 1976. His other notable roles include the BBC drama Black Silk and the BBC sitcom The Thin Blue Line.
