Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Peter SNOW (1938-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Peter Snow, television and radio presenter, was surprised by Michael Aspel while recording an edition of Tomorrow's World at BBC Television Centre.
Peter, who was born in Dublin, Ireland, and educated at Wellington College, Berkshire, read classics at Balliol College, Oxford, where he took part in amateur dramatics. He served his national service with the Somerset Light Infantry and later worked as a cattle rancher in the United States and as a tour guide in London.
He joined ITN in 1962 to train as a news writer and sub-editor before becoming a reporter and newsreader, and later the company's Diplomatic and Defence Correspondent and War Correspondent. He became well known for his lively analysis of general election results at ITN and later for the BBC after he joined Newsnight in 1979.
