Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Nadim SAWALHA (1933-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Nadim Sawalha, actor, was surprised by Michael Aspel while rehearsing the play Dearest Daddy ... Darling Daughter at a relative's house in Upper Norwood, South London, having been led to believe he was being filmed for a showbiz television programme.
Nadim, who was born in Madaba, Jordan, began acting while at school before moving to the UK in 1953 to study drama at the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama. After training, he worked for the BBC Overseas Service, producing plays and making programmes before getting his first major film appearance in the 1973 romantic comedy A Touch of Class.
Nadim has appeared in over one hundred films, including two James Bond films, The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977 and The Living Daylights in 1987, and in dozens of television programmes, most notably in the ITV sitcom Sorry, I'm A Stranger Here Myself and as Dr Shaaban Hamada in the BBC medical drama series Dangerfield.
