Celebrating television's This Is Your Life
Tim HEALY (1952-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE - Tim Healy, actor, was surprised by Michael Aspel at the Marriot Victoria & Albert Hotel in Manchester, having been led to believe he was there for an interview with the BBC regional television programme Northwest Tonight.
Tim, who was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, worked as a welder for five years before enrolling on a drama course at Durham Technical College at the age of 21. He started picking up minor acting roles while performing solo comedy acts in northern working men's clubs before becoming an early member of Newcastle's Live Theatre Company in 1973.
He got his big break on television in 1983 with a role in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, the ITV comedy-drama series about British builders working in Germany. He later appeared in the BBC comedy drama serial Common As Muck and the ITV comedy film King Leek.
