Todd CARTY (1963-)
THIS IS YOUR LIFE – Todd Carty, actor, was surprised by Michael Aspel - with the help of actress Barbara Windsor and actor Shaun Williamson - while filming a scene for the BBC television soap opera EastEnders at the BBC Elstree Studios.
Todd, who was born in London and studied at the Phildene Stage School, first appeared on television at the age of 4 in an advertisement for Woolworths. As a child actor, he appeared in various television series, including Pease Sir and Z Cars. He made his West End debut in 1976, at 13, as the young Lionel in Lionel Bart's autobiographical musical Lionel!.
In 1978 he was cast as Tucker Jenkins in the BBC children's programme Grange Hill and later in the spin-off series Tucker's Luck - a role which brought him national fame and teenage pin-up status. In 1990 he took over the part of Mark Fowler in the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
